Plymouth florist raises more than £500 for St Luke’s Hospice

Florists in Devon were smacked with an immense sense of pride back in August this year as the manager of Plymouth’s Yvonne’s flower shop, Ms Heidi Blake, performed a daredevil stunt in order to raise funds for her chosen charity.

The daring florist jumped out of a plane at 15,000 feet and managed to raise just over £500 for St Luke’s Hospice while she was at it.

Ms Blake wanted to go about raising cash for St Luke’s in a different way to those associated with florists – and she certainly achieved that. It’s not every day that you’ll see a florist  seen jumping from a plane, so it’s fair to say that Ms Blake has somewhat raised the bar.

Libby Carswell was also quick to point out that this was no mean feat for her colleague, Ms Blake, who is terrified of heights.

The thriving florist, which is one of the Plymouth’s most established, raises funds for a charitable cause every year, and as well as raising money for St Luke’s Hospice, the florist has raised money for other such worthy causes as Breast Cancer Care and The Poppy Appeal.

Ms Blake and her generous staff are set to continue in their efforts to raise money for these charities, but look out – having raised the standard so high, who knows what kind of money raising plan these Plymouth-based florists will concoct for next year’s efforts?

Yvonne’s has been arranging and selling stunning bouquets and floral arrangements to its loyal customers for more than forty years now and is proud to be able to continue its work with its local community to raise money and awareness for Plymouth-based charities while at the same time raising the profile of the UK’s floristry industry.

Yvonne works tirelessly with flower delivery veterans Interflora to ensure that customers receive only the best flowers Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay and Taunton have to offer. And word of Yvonne’s feat, her gall and charity work wasn’t missed, with florists in Oxford and London having also followed suit and joined the fearless florist in her charitable work.

In the local area, Yvonne’s been working hard to promote her business and share her love of flowers with locals and visitors to the Mutley & Greenbank Festivals in May and December, so get down there this year if you’d like to see this woman’s handywork!
